For Stoppard fans, the chance to see Hapgood is welcome, even if the view is not one of Stoppard at his best.
Whether you find it brilliant or cheesy, this is a well-directed and well-performed production of a so-so show that, despite its theatrical shortcomings, both entertains and asks questions.
WATCH (Washington Area Theatre Community Honors) announced the nominations for the 12th annual WATCH Awards. 127 productions (40 musicals, 87 plays) by thirty-two community theater companies were adjudicated in 2011.
Not only does the production boast a large number of high-quality performances, but Stephen Aldy Giurgis’ script is a wonder.
A drama that will make you laugh while you are contemplating the frailty of life.

Three Days of Rain is a serious and emotional play put on by Silver Spring Stage on Saturday evening, with perhaps some interesting blocking decisions, but overall a moving play that explores how events in the past can affect the next generation’s outlook on life.
It helps if you know Shakespeare’s story, but it’s not a requirement. A show heavy on silliness and light on reality.
