WATCH (Washington Area Theatre Community Honors) announced the nominations for the 13th annual WATCH Awards. 126 productions (43 musicals, 83 plays) by thirty-three community theater companies were adjudicated in 2012.
Even in more recent plays and musicals, a common theme has been the difficulty, or perhaps impossibility, of achieving “The American Dream.” Steinbeck’s success, and that of this production, is to make understandable the emotional impact of the loss of even that tiny dream.
PWLT’s Red Scare on Sunset was an enigma: a great design concept and competent actors merged with a confusing plot didn’t quite equal a completely enjoyable show.
With only mic issues to mar it, Prince William Little Theatre’s presentation of the rarely-produced Baby is well worth the price of admission.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest featured a great cast with solid performances to make this a delightfully sad show.
Overall, there were some pacing issues that made the production feel sluggish at times, but there were also moments of joy, hope and laughter to balance out what The Women go through.
