I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change is a series of vignettes set to music. It takes a comedic look at the path people take from the dating scene, through marriage, child rearing, and finally the “empty nest syndrome.” The sets, choreography, singing, and a fabulous ensemble cast made this a truly enjoyable production.

This was a fast paced show that required precision timing as well as spot on dancing. Choreographer Stephanie Miller kept things lively and moving fast. The ensemble cast made it all seem so easy as they wheeled their chairs around the stage during one of the funniest songs “on the Highway of Love.” The excitement and energy the cast exuded was evident on the faces and caused the audience to really laugh and enjoy themselves (especially after being cooped up for as much as a week in some locations).

I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change as scripted calls for two male and two female actors. Director Celia Blitzer chose to cast four men and women, which was a wise decision. By allowing the actors extra time to change costumes and prepare for set changes between each vignette, the show never lost steam during the many scene changes. The intimate space of the Gaithersburg Arts Barn allowed Set Designer Celia Blitzer enough space to allow for dancing and still have basic set pieces that were changed by the performers.

Even though Valentine’s Day is officially over, this is a great show to take your special someone to see and enjoy.
