Tim Ereneta Chart Toppers of 1349!
By Michael & Laura Clark • Jul 13th, 2010 • Category: Fringe, ReviewsThe Official Description: Join storyteller Tim Ereneta as he counts down the smash hits of the 14th century: the grim, gruesome, weird and wonderful fairy tales of Europe. The Black Death waits outside the door, so tonight why not party like it’s 1349?
What You’ll Like: Tim Eretnea’s upbeat personality initially seems at odds with stories from 1349, but when you realize he is performing the countdown duties (ala Casey Kasem) of the best stories, tales and jokes of the year 1349, you totally accept it. The nine stories range in length from two to ten minutes, and are told very well. Eretnea is comfortable on stage, moving easily, gesturing to emphasize points in each tale.
What You Won’t: The hour moves along very quickly. I’m not sure if a “top 20” stories would work well, but I definitely could have listened to more stories from 1349.
Overall: An enjoyable performance.

Yep, Tim is gifted storyteller. When we had him in Arizona doing the same chart-toppers piece, he just knocked it out of the park. Glad you had a chance to see his fun performance. I also agree in that it took our audience a bit to “get” the premise of the countdown. He has a dry sense of humor- so it is at first not as smack-in-the-face obvious as some other Fringers are. Funny stuff.
