Here are the details about each production:

Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo
Area Premiere
By Rajiv Joseph
Directed by Jeremy Skidmore

This ferocious, groundbreaking new play follows the intertwined lives of a quick-witted tiger, two homesick American marines, and a troubled Iraqi gardener as they roam the streets of war-torn Baghdad in search of meaning, redemption, and a toilet seat made of gold. Surreal and darkly humorous, it explores the madness of life in war as well as the power and the perils of human nature.

A finalist for the 2010 Pulitzer Prize and a recent Broadway hit, Bengal Tiger delivers a haunting look at the aftermath of violence and what it means to be caught in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Recommended for age 17 and up

I Love to Eat
Area Premiere
By James Still
Directed by Leon Major

Before Julia Child, Emeril, and the Food Network, there was television’s first chef, James Beard, who brought fine cooking to the small screen in 1946. The author of 20-plus cookbooks, his message of good food, honestly prepared with fresh, wholesome ingredients, helped establish an American cuisine. This affectionate, entertaining portrait of America’s first foodie gives us an intimate look at someone who embraced every aspect of living – but may have wanted too much.

Nick Olcott portrays the flamboyant chef described as “the face and belly of American gastronomy,” a man who loved food – and life.

Recommended for age 15 and up

Young Robin Hood
World Premiere
By Jon Klein
Directed by Derek Goldman

Travel to Sherwood Forest for some swashbuckling fun in this rousing new version of the classic adventure story!

King Richard is off on the Crusades and Nottingham is at the mercy of the evil and corrupt Sheriff, who twists the law and persecutes the poor. When his father is falsely accused of a crime and imprisoned, teenage Robin, already a skilled archer and swordsman, has to grow up fast and devise a rescue. Friendship is tested and new alliances are formed as Robin fights against tyranny and injustice, with the unexpected help of the Sheriff’s feisty daughter Marion.

Recommended for age 8 and up

Glengarry Glen Ross
By David Mamet
Directed by Mitchell Hébert

A powerhouse cast featuring some of DC’s top actors, including Rick Foucheux, Alexander Strain, KenYatta Rogers, James Konicek, Jefferson Russell, and Conrad Feininger, brings this 1984 Pulitzer Prize winner to our stage.

Mamet’s scalding comedy looks at desperate real estate salesmen trying to grind out a living by pushing plots of land on reluctant buyers in a never-ending scramble for their share of the American dream. These hucksters are prepared to engage in any number of unethical, illegal acts from lies, flattery, and threats to bribery, intimidation, and burglary to get a piece of the action. While closing a sale can mean a new Cadillac, losing one can mean losing it all.

Recommended for age 17 and up

I Do! I Do!
Book and lyrics by Tom Jones
Music by Harvey Schmidt
Based on The Fourposter by Jan de Hartog
Directed by Nick Olcott
Musical Direction by Christopher Youstra

This joyful musical, a Broadway hit by the authors of The Fantasticks, follows the life of a married couple – from their jittery wedding night until the day they leave their house to the next pair of newlyweds 50 years later.

Agnes and Michael (played by DC theatre favorites – and real life married couple – Sherri L. Edelen and Thomas Adrian Simpson) raise a family, negotiate mid-life crises, quarrel, separate, reconcile, and grow old together. Featuring a captivating score, which includes the standard “My Cup Runneth Over”, this intimate, nostalgic journey encompasses all the richness, joy, trials, and tribulations inherent in taking the plunge into a life spent with someone you love.

Recommended for age 12 and up

Sherlock Holmes and the Adventure of The Suicide Club
Area Premiere
By Jeffrey Hatcher

May 29 – June 23, 2013
Round House Theatre Bethesda

In a windowless house in the heart of London, some of Europe’s most powerful gentlemen gather to play a game. The game is murder and this is The Suicide Club. But this secret society has a new member: Sherlock Holmes — the English-speaking world’s greatest detective. Does Holmes wish to die? Will he have to kill? Can Dr. Watson save him? Are dark forces involved in a plot so far-reaching that the fate of Europe is at stake?

Combine Arthur Conan Doyle’s immortal characters with a story suggested by a Robert Louis Stevenson novella and the result is a new Holmes thriller full of mystery, twists, and chills.

Recommended for age 12 and up
Co-production with Delaware Theatre Company

Schedule is subject to change due to performance rights conflicts or other issues.
