				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>On Monday evening, January 27th, the names of the nominees for the 30th Annual Helen Hayes Awards were announced at the National Theatre. <a href="/x/hha">theatreWashington</a> [sic] board member Glen Howard hosted the event and live webcast. 155 artists, ensembles, and productions in 27 categories from 62 productions from 27 theatres were nominated. During the 2013 season (January &#8211; December 2013), 49 professional theatre companies produced 186 productions that met Helen Hayes Awards eligibility requirements. From these shows, 143 were plays, 43 were musicals, 15 were visiting productions, 15 were Theatre for Young Audiences, and 37 were world premieres (28 new plays and nine new musicals).&nbsp;</p>
<p><span id="more-10100"></span>The 30th Annual Helen Hayes Awards will be held on Monday, April 21, 2014 at the National Building Museum.</p>

<p>Signature Theatre received the most awards, four, including Outstanding Resident Musical for <i>Dreamgirls</i>. Four companies received three awards, MetroStage, Shakespeare Theatre Company, Studio Theatre and Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company. Three prodiuctions received three awards each. They were <i>Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris</i>, MetroStage; <i>Dreamgirls</i>, Signature Theatre; and <i>Invisible Man</i>, The Studio Theatre. There were two ties, Outstanding Supporting Actress, Resident Musical and Outstanding Set Design, Resident Production.</p>

The awards will be presented on April 8th.</p>
<p>Three productions received nine nominations each: Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company, <i>The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity</i>; Folger Theatre, <i>The Taming of the Shrew</i>; and Toby’s Dinner Theatre, <i>The Color Purple</i>. Shakespeare Theatre Company received 19 nominations, Arena Stage followed with 18, and Folger Theatre received 14.</p>

<p>Instead of using letters and numbers (B-4, O-70) these bingo cards are made up of the names of the shows performed in 2012, and the theater company names that are members of theatreWashington [sic]. No prizes are going to be awarded, other than bragging rights.</p>
