This Mamet production didn’t disappoint. Plus ca change, c’est la meme chose.
The jazzmen of Warren Leight’s 1999 Tony-winning play, Side Man, have come to see themselves as the last, dying remnant of a music to which their lives have been passionately, even obsessively, committed.
If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to see a show that is running off the tracks, or to see a bit of the magic that happens when you work on a theatrical production, Laughing Stock will let you live out your fantasy.
In the end, the show put a smile on every audience member’s face as they exited thinking about the marvelous mind of Dr. Seuss and this wonderful showcase by the Oakcrest girls.
The only fault I can find with RCP’s presentation of the show is that they didn’t schedule it over the Valentine’s Day weekend.

The Madeira School’s cast of Hairspray aptly illustrated the school’s motto — “Madeira Girls have something to say!”
Although there seemed to be moments where actors had some trouble communicating the overall message, their love of the show and of their fellow performers was obvious and made The New School of Northern Virginia’s The Adding Machine an enjoyable and thought-provoking experience.
The Lazy Susan’s Mousetrap is a good Agatha Christie piece that will keep you guessing up ’til the end.
