Local Arts Commissions Budgets

Last year, the Comonwealth proposed eliminating the Virginia Commission for the Arts, a proposal that was later rejected, although the agency’s budget was reduced. At the time, HamptonRoads.com askedShould the General Assembly eliminate the Virginia Commission for the Arts?. Just so you know, here are the budgets for our local Arts groups for Fiscal Year 2011:
- Virginia’s budget for the Virginia Commission for the Arts was $4,464,486.
- Maryland’s budget for the Maryland State Arts Council was $13.3 million.
- The DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities was $5.8 million.
