[title of show], now in Signature’s ARK theatre is a blast. Full of wit and zaniness, coupled with some of the better voices in the area, this production will leave you smiling and happy.
With James Gardiner playing Hunter, one of two struggling writers and Sam Ludwig playing Jeff , you can’t miss. These two actors set the tone for the evening and once set, the show grows until the end of the show. Both Gardiner and Ludwig perform with musical expertise and acting acumen. Gardiner’s energy is so exciting; he propels the audience into frenzy of laughter and frolic. Joining in the fun and frolic is his characters partner, Jeff, and Ludwig grounds this play throughout. Sam’s vocals alone are nothing short of amazing. Now you add the other three cast members, the lovely and vivacious Erin Driscoll (Heidi), Jenna Sokolowski (Susan) and Gabriel Mangiante (Larry/Piano), who is also [title of show]‘s musical director, and you’ve got a smashing show. Erin Driscoll is brilliant singing “A Way Back to Then.” Jenna Sokolowski’s “Die Vampire, Die” is fabulous as she leads the ensemble cast through the number. This cast is as ensemble of a musical cast as you can get. [title of show] is a delightful show for all adults to see.
This play is masterfully directed by Matthew Gardiner. Matthew Gardiner keeps his actors on pace throughout the show and fills every possible moment with the realities of the characters’ lives. His choreography is witty and fun and expertly performed by his ensemble cast.
This is a 90 minute show with no intermission, but [title of show] provides all the story and music of a full, with intermission, musical extravaganza! Highly recommended.
